Weekly Market Notes for March 17, 2011

Hello Market Friends:

Anne is away this week so I have the privilege of bringing you this March Break issue of the Market News! Today spring is undoubtedly in the air and tomorrow promises to be a lovely market day. The zamboni has moved out for the season, the rink is melting away and the mud will try to steal your boots so come prepared! Some vendor updates: Greenfields will be absent this week, returning March 24. Colette (Urban Harvest) will be away this week due to Canada Blooms. Don't forget this is the last week til May for Sosnickis' perogies, sauerkraut, cabbage and beets.

On a more sombre note, most of you will have heard about what has been happening in Japan over the last few days. As we can all imagine, Yo, who in many ways has adopted the Dufferin Grove Park community as her home away from home, is feeling the distance from her first home more poignantly this week. She has asked me to pass along this note:

"Although my family and friends are all safe, fortunately, a big part of Japan has been devastated by the earthquake. In order to raise funds for the people there, I will make rice balls and possibly some Japanese sweets and have them at the snack bar. Thanks and hope to see you there!" Yo

There will be a donation box at the snack bar for anyone who wants to help out,

Jenny

See you at the market!

Anne
