Dear market and Friday Night Supper friends,
This week the Friday night Supper is rolled together with the Cooking Fire Festival of Outdoor Theatre that's going on all week (www.dufferinpark.ca/arts/arts.html#cookingfire2005). That means the supper tonight will begin at 5.30 so that diners can go to the first show (at 6.30) if they want. Our former park cook Dan DeMatteis has taken a week off his regular gig at Jamie Kennedy's wine bar, to prepare these Cooking Fire Festival dinners with our current park cook Dan Malloy.
Tonight:
- lasagne (Beretta's beef or vegetarian),
- leek potato soup, Sosnicki's greens salad,
- Ted Thorpe's strawberries in a cake with ice cream,
- spanokopita's,
- lots of park bread,
- maybe other things I don't know about.
Tomorrow: a whole wild boar including the head and trotters, from Ute Zell of Stonehenge Farms.
And lots of other things -- Dan and Dan basically cook in the zamboni kitchen from morning to night, to the loud music of park staff Ted Carlisle's favourite CDs, playing on the CD player that Brian and Priscilla Cranley donated.
Because of the heat, the wading pool is open and an augmented food cart is there too. This evening, sprinklers will be set up at various spots near the dinner so that people in the park can cool off between the plays/ in the middle of supper/ on their way to Wal-mart/ etc.
You may as well come down to the park and be hot there among your neighbours, at least there's shade and a breeze and some tasty food and some able actors to entertain you......
See you at Friday Night Supper!
