CAPITAL PROJECTS SECTION - PROJECT SCOPE
OBJECTIVES:
To improve and revitalize the park facilities and amenities located at the north-west corner of Dufferin Grove Park.
SCOPE OF WORK:
The City requires the design consulting team to conduct a comprehensive review of the scope and in consultation with the City staff, members of the Community Resource Group (CRG) provide:
1. Detail investigation and assessment of city-operated and community programs to determine expectations for the operation and programming of the new clubhouse and park amenities within the area of scope.
2. Development of a revitalization plan to include the new clubhouse and park amenities improvements within the area of scope, to strike a balance between diverse recreation programs, and to provide safe environment and access for users of the many recreation opportunities.
3. Development of conceptual design and cost estimate that will determine capital funding required for the implementation of the final design. The implementation strategy will require a phasing program over consecutive years to complete construction of the approved design.
4. Detailed design development, construction documentation, tender and contract administration for the following scope:
• New community clubhouse that houses a commercial kitchen, multi-purpose community/recreation room(s), public washrooms, admin/recreation office(s), snack bar, storage room(s), janitorial/laundry room(s), ice rink refrigeration/mechanical & electrical rooms, lighting, and fire safety plan.
• New outdoor ice rink
• Consideration of a new skating ice trail or pad
• Consideration of a new heated zamboni garage and storage
• Barrier-free accessibility improvements within the area of project
• New community garden and pizza ovens
• Exterior lighting and distribution for pathways, ice rink and skating trail
• Site access and services
