A small group came to look at the two garden beds in June and asked for tools and the hose. They drove their car into the park and parked beside two beds. One of them introduced herself to Skylar: Emerelle.
Skylar forwarded me your email address. I write the monthly park newsletter (since 2000) and I'd like to put in a bit about your group and the teaching gardens, probably for the September issue.
Will you be looking after the gardens on a regular schedule? I'd love to ask you about the plentiful teasel and the burdock plants in the gardens -- both abundant and both with interesting medicinal and practical uses.
By the way: city council has just passed a resolution to step up enforcement of the bylaw about cars driving in parks, so it sounds like there will be a bit of a push to ticket people. Just FYI -- safer to park on the street and walk in.
Hiya Skylar! Sorry for the late response, I was away this summer. I will be starting up the garden within the next week or two. All the best, Em

Hi Emerelle, Thanks for getting in touch. Skylar coordinates the park garden cooperative and I write the DG newsletter. We noticed that no gardening happened at the teaching garden beds after the first visit of your group, so I didn't put an update in the September newsletter. Glad to hear that you'll be back. If you can let me know of a date and time when you'll be there, I can pass by and find out a little more about your activities. People will be interested, even more so with the pow wow coming up.
Hi Skylar, Sorry for the delay, we have been really busy doing outreach. We have started working and weeding our garden. We will be at the garden on We’d evenings. Unfortunately, I have forgotten the code to the garden shed… could you please reshared it with me. Thanks all the best, looking forward to seeing you in the park.
Hi Emerelle: Welcome back to the park. The shed code is ____. See you in the park on Wednesdays. DGP Garden Co-op volunteers will be around Wednesday 4-6pm.
