Pollinator garden workshop 2024

May 8, 2024, from Skylar: Hi Crystal: The Dufferin Grove Park Garden Co-op received the 2023 PollinatorTO grant. One of the grant requirements is to offer pollinator workshops. Thanks to Meagan's suggestion we are reaching out to you to see if you are interested in offering a workshop for children this summer...in July when the park offers summer camps? We are very excited about our volunteer work in the park gardens and if you have some time we would like to show you our garden pollinator projects. Please let me know when it would be convenient for us to meet in the gardens? We are excited to offer a workshop for children about our connection to the land and the importance of pollinators.
June 10, from Crystal: I'm terribly sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I can make myself available on Friday early evening or anytime this Saturday for a visit. Alternatively, I'm also free the following weekend. Looking forward to see all the great growing going on!
Jun 11, from Skylar: Hi Crystal: It will be great to meet you and show you the Dufferin Park gardens. I can meet you on Saturday. The Garden Co-op has a gardening session on Saturday morning 10-12noon. I can meet up with you any time on Saturday.
Jun 11,from Skylar: Hi Nicole: May Amy and I (PollinateTO project) have a table at the Thurs June 20 DGP Farmer's Market? June 17-23 is National Pollinator Week and as part of the DGP Garden Co-op PollinatorTO project we would like to honor that with an information-on-pollinators table. We will have two pollinator information coloring sheets for families/children and free sunflower seedlings and mint in small pots to give away (unless that conflicts with farmers or Collete). And a signup sheet for Garden Co-op volunteers.
July 23, from Skylar to Alpha Alternative School: The DGP Garden Co-op PollinateTO grant is presenting a summer pollinator/native plants workshop with Crystal Melin. Date: Thursday, August 15. Time: 10:30-11:30am. Location: Dufferin Grove Park tables by the cob. Is your summer camp group available to attend? If so, how many children?
Aug 8, 2024, from Skylar to Rec lead Adam, re summer camp program: We would like to confirm the Pollinator/Native Plant Workshop for Thursday, August 15 / 9:30-11:30. Location: Dufferin Grove Park tables by the Cob building/small oven. Please confirm. Adam: How many children will be there?
Aug 12, from Skylar: Hi Crystal: We are having trouble getting enough kids to attend your workshop. We are wondering if you have a September weekday date available. A Thursday morning 9:30-11:30am.
Aug.13, from Skylar: Hi Crystal: I am reaching out to local schools/programs to see if they are available to bring children over for a native plant/pollinator workshop: Thurs. Sept. 26 / 9:30-11:30am. Does this date work for you?
August 19, from Skylar to Jutta: May I have Zio's contact info for the school he teaches at? Alpha? Also, do you have a contact for the Grove School? The Homeschoolers group in this area? And, Jessica who runs the in-home Forest-inspired daycare (little kids in yellow hats)? I want to offer our last Pollinate TO workshop on Thurs. Sept. 26 / 9:30-11:30am. And, I want lots of kids there!!! I am going to reach out to the Montessori school too.
Aug.26, from Skylarto Alpha, Crystal: Please confirm that Thursday, September 26 / 9:30-11:30am works for everyone. Aug.27, from Skylar to Crystal: I just realized I said two hours (9:30-11:30) and it is only one hour. So maybe 10-11am if that works for you and the school children.
Aug.27 from Alpha school Hi Skylar and Crystal, I am copying the other educators (Anne, Claire and Seema) on this. I wanted to let you know that either Thursday (19th or 26th September) could work. Just to make sure - this workshop is for students aged 3-7? Looking forward to hearing more about it.
