< New Cob Sign Needs Urethane Spray | Problems 2006 | Drainage problem at cob courtyard >
For the past few years Arie Kamp's gardens have been gradually taken out of commission and returned to sod, now that he has retired from doing them. Two more beds need to be returned to grass this year --would that be done through horticulture?
Jenny is only working on Wednesdays now because she's got to meet some deadlines for the work on her Masters of Environmental Design. I wasn't quite sure if we were clear that Jenny needs to be notified in good time before any grading or seeding is done so that she can dig up the plants with the students she's supervising, and move them. As far as I know, the best thing for her would be if your staff can work around her Wednesday work days, e.g. come next Thursday or Friday. Would that be possible?
That was clear to me. I have asked Gus to move the materials at the toilet sometime next week. I will let him that Thursday Friday would be the best days for that as well as the restoration of those areas to turf.
Gus and Tom will be at Dufferin Grove Wednesday morning to move the material. It would be useful to have someone there to show them where the material needs to be placed. They will move the compost as well and begin to remove the planted areas. Hopefully with staff there and volunteers this can move smoothly.
Thanks for giving the heads up about Wednesday -- sounds good. We'll make sure Jenny, Georgie, and everyone we can get will be in the park to help.
Tom made a great start on cleaning up the park last week, getting most of the compost to better spots and moving the piles for the compost toilet/cob surround for next spring. Tino has ordered the wood for the winter cover and I believe Rob plans to work on it this week.
Tom said he'd come back and finish up with the garden beds -- hopefully he'll get a chance in between rain showers. Will you be seeding this fall or do you want to give the grass seed to Jenny for the students to put on?
