The pleasure pad is open for unsupervised shinny after the last ice maintenance of the evening.
Sunday
Rink clubhouse: open Monday to Sunday: 9:00am - 9:00pm
Zamboni Cafe Snackbar: Monday-Sunday 10:00am - 8:30pm
Shinny hockey: same hours as the rink clubhouse except Sundays. There is a (strictly enforced) age schedule. If you ever see the wrong age group on the shinny ice, do us a favour and notify the rink staff right away.
Pleasure-skating: always freely available. After 9:00pm, skating is unsupervised. Then it's like skating on a pond: shinny hockey and pleasure-skating are sometimes happening at the same time and people are responsible for their own use of the rink.
The large rink lights turn off after 11:00pm, and then the rink is locked.
Parking: The best place to park is at the Dufferin Mall across the street.
Skaters are required to leave the ice during zamboni maintenance.
Monday-Friday pre 9am sometimes extended to 10am, 11:45am, 3:15pm, 7pm and 8:55pm
Saturday pre 9am, 11:45am, 2:45pm, 5:15pm, 8:55pm,
Sunday pre 9am, 12pm, 4:55pm, 7:55pm.
The hockey pad is usually scraped first.

Shinny Hockey Monday Feb. 20 2012:
Sunday Nights From 9:30pm - 11:00pm Level One Registered Beginner Shinny
Are you new to skating, and want to try out the national game? Dufferin Rink offers skills practice and protected shinny hockey time for Level One beginner skaters, Sunday nights from 9:30pm - 11:00pm. None of the Dufferin Rink hot shots are allowed on the ice during that time. A resource person will be there to help you improve your skills through exercises, drills and organized games. This program is for those who are new to skating. It's a free registered program. Space is limited. For more information or to sign up e-mail outdoor.shinny@gmail.com, or call 416 392-0913. Ask for Ginger or Marty.
Wednesday Nights From 10:00pm - 11:00pm Level One Beginner Shinny Drop In.
Are you a wannabe shinny hockey player? Dufferin Rink offers an hour of protected drop-in shinny hockey time for real beginners (we call them Level One, which means you might not even be that good at skating backwards), Wednesday nights from 10:00pm - 11:00pm. None of the Dufferin Rink hot shots are allowed on the ice during that time. No need to register, and it's free, with a staff resource person on the ice who will pass to you, help you with drills, and give you pointers if you want. Or you can just practice as you choose. Space is limited each night to 30 players, and is on a first come first serve basis. For more information, e-mail outdoor.shinny@gmail.com or call the park at 416 392-0913. Ask for Ginger or Marty.
This is the official registration email.
Hi all,
PLEASE REPLY ASAP if you would like to participate this year. 25 to 30 spots available.
The Beginner shinny LESSONS are on Sunday nights from 9:30 until 11pm. I don't have an official start date yet, all I know is that Dufferin Grove is scheduled to open up on the 19th of this month. Weather dependent.
Wednesday night there is a beginner drop-in program that runs from 10 to 11pm. This is not a skills program! just a game! but I will be around for support! For the time being I am going to avoid registration for this program. Just come!
I would like to stress that both nights are strongly geared toward beginner players. Last years skill level was too high and many more novice skaters stopped coming. If you need an explanation of what a beginner is you probably aren't one... This program is for anyone who struggles with or has never skated/played hockey before.
Here is a definition of the word beginner: be·gin·ner*/bi'gin?r/ Noun: A person just starting to learn a skill or take part in an activity.
Thanks all!
Ginger
Sorry, all spots are taken
