I Checked the very impressive BMX court last night at Wallace Emerson Park and very pleased to see that many boys were riding it and having fun and it's not even finished yet. I'm hearing a lot of conversation by kids about making, repairing and buying BMX bikes so that they can participate. It's great to have the park used and to give a new interest and sport to local children.
I have found myself holding my breath as I watch people jumping the hills. (shouldn't they be wearing helmets?) Good timing that this issue of Maclean's Magazine (Sept 4 - page 43-44 - below) has an article about how children have become so well protected that they may be not be developing good risk management skills - this court certainly has enough danger to ensure that they can develop a little here.
Thank you,
Dyan Marie
