Last market of the year: December 18th
First market of 2015: January 8th
LATE-BREAKING NEWS: MANY CANCELLATIONS DUE TO ROAD CONDITIONS, See below for the list we expect to be in attendance.
Hello Market Friends:
Our makers and bakers are very busy these days, preparing special items in addition to regular market fare. Come and see all their goodies!
With just this market and next before the holidays, you may want to place an order ahead if you want larger quantities of something like Earth and City's (raw, gluten-free) macaroons. They come in three flavours: Gingerbread, Peppermint Cacao, and Eggnog. I sampled them all and can tell you, they're delicious! Cranberry Cookies, Fruitcake Cookies, Pecan Squares, Cranberry Almond Rosemary Crackers and Caraway Crackers are on the menu, too. For orders, email <info@earthandcity.ca>
Also consider ordering ahead from DeFloured, for tourtieres and other holiday baking. Krista and Chris will be making lots, but sometimes customers come into the shop wanting to buy up everything before they can get it to us. (Really, the nerve!) Chris says they're baking his favourite, Curry Beef Pot Pies, for this week's market. For orders, write to <krista.tobias@gmail.com>
Happy News: Another Market Baby! Congratulations to Sandra, Kevin and big brother Grover on the arrival of a 7 lb, 14 ounce baby girl at Shared Harvest Community Farm. Kevin will be coming in to market with lots of root veggies.
Welcome back to Angelos. You'll find Country Meadows' olives, oil, cheeses, and eggs in his usual corner of the rinkhouse.
We're also pleased to pass on a message from Natasha Akiwenzie: "Smoked and frozen fish will be headed your way".
Kind Organics is having a tincture sale! Any three for $20. For gifts, Sandra Dombi also suggests sprouting seeds, teas and Chaga.
If you're visiting friends or family, Bees Universe candles, ChocoSol drinking or eating chocolate, and Best Baa cheeses are all lovely options to bring along. And don't forget a bottle of wine from Reimer Vineyards, who'll be with us this time.
We're hoping for a visit from the wonderfully talented Michael Johnson, with his trumpet in hand to play us some beautiful tunes.
See you at the market!
Anne Freeman
