Hello Market Friends:
Lots of sun + lots of rain + lots of growth = abundance on our tables!
"The farm crew at Everdale are all excited as we start another Market season this week!! On our table are bunches of Green & Purple Kale, Spinach, Arugula, Salad Mix, Rainbow Chard, Head Lettuce, Cilantro, Radish and our first Hakurei & Scarlett Turnip bunches. Sounds like you may need to bring an umbrella. See you there." Mark & Kyle
Laura and Matthew Sabourin from Feast of Fields have lots of organic strawberries coming! They are growing 'day neutrals', which continue to fruit for a longer season than varieties which produce in a mad rush when the day length is just right, so we'll get to enjoy berries for quite a while. HOWEVER, this is still the time for greatest abundance!
Sosnickis' contribution: We are harvesting AND planting like crazy now! This week at Dufferin lots of full gorgeous heads of Lettuce: Romaine, Red Butterheads, Red Leaf, Minis, Red Mini Romaines (variety 'pomegranate crunch' Oooo), young Kale, Swiss Chard AND the first of our Patty Pan Zucchinis! Want to see up to date pictures of our farm and keep tabs on whats happening? Check out our instagram: https://instagram.com/sosnickiorganic/ Jess, Ben, Sadie & Nate
"Hi all you wonderful market growers. Rain or shine, Urban Harvest will be at market this week with a 50% off sale on all the vegetable plants. Not too late to plant either. We just did a whole lot more this week. See you there", Colette and Pablo
From Forbes Wild Foods: "We'll have morels, and some sea veggies such as: sea spinach, sea parsley, oyster leaf, wakame, and sea chickweed. Seth is away but Ruvena will be coming in to cover for him."
Shared Harvest will be back steadily now, with fresh herbs, veggies and greens.
Don't forget the special "Saturday Night Dinner" at the park this weekend, to raise funds for Dufferin Grove bake oven repairs and to remember one of the first cooks who started the community dinners, Dan DeMatteis. 6 to 7.30 pm as usual, and if it rains, the tents will be up, just like in the old days of the Cooking Fire Theatre Festival (same cooks). Invite your friends.
See you at the market!
Anne Freeman
P.S. Clay and Paper Theatre's Day of Delight is this weekend too! Sunday June 21, 2-5 pm in the park.
Vendors this week:
We're open from 3 to 7 pm every week. Parking is available across from St. Mary's High School (at the north end of the park) from 2:00 pm on Thursdays, and there are stops for north and southbound Dufferin buses at our corner.
