Hello Market Friends:
I'd like to start this week by sharing a thank you note from Beth Elson of Seventh Generation with all of you:
"We had a wonderful time at the Market last week. The people are super friendly and we were feeling very good at the end of the day. We would like to thank you and your Dufferin Market Friends for the opportunity to be part of such a wonderful group of vendors. We had not anticipated that kind of response and we are still overwhelmed how fast the apples sold. We had a great time with great people!"
This week, Seventh Generation will have Spys (both Grade A and cookers), Red Delicious and Lindells. The apples are bagged, but you're also welcome to bring your own sack and transfer them.
Next, a little correction is in order:
"At the market last week I told the customers that I had only 1 market day left [before departing for the olive harvest in Greece for a few weeks] but in fact I have 2. I will be at the market on Oct. 25 and Nov 1st." Angelos
From the Sosnickis:
"Harvest still going strong, perhaps a frost shortly, so I'm staying home and will be picking and putting peppers into cold storage so we may be able to offer them for the next two weeks. Coming tomorrow will be all our peppers, potatoes, a new variety of winter cabbage - beautiful HUGE heavy dense heads -perfect for cabbage rolls and sauerkraut (I'll begin cooking within two weeks!), lots of fresh tasty Spinach, big Chard, red & yellow Spanish Onions, Cooking Onions, Parsley, Eggplants, still gorgeous topped bunched Beets, loose Beets, AND some Red Delicious Apples to round out our October Dufferin Harvest!" Jessie
From Irene of Deer Valley Farm:
"Since we’ve been having some requests and the weather is getting cooler, it’s time to have the venison chili available again, starting this week. We also have various cuts of fresh (nicely aged) venison and original breakfast sausages available. If anyone wishes to place a custom order for November, please contact us on or before Sunday, Oct. 28th at: order@venison.ca We look forward to seeing you at the market."
At the Beretta table, Serena hopes to have samples of one of their delicious entrees for you to try.
Great coffee (whole beans or ground) still available from the dedicated students of Ursula Franklin, who are raising funds for their Guatemala project.
Don't forget Night of Dread coming to the park this Saturday, October 27. Time to cast out your personal demons!
And if you want to cast out some personal stuff (and trade for better), come to the Toy/Book/DVD/Costume Swap on the weekend, too.
See you at the market!
