Hello Market Friends:
Some markets have to plan a lot of special events, but we're not usually faced with a shortage of lively happenings and pleasant options in the park, such as lounging by the gardens, checking out the skate pad action, and wandering down to the reflexology footpath or the playground. This week, free yoga returns from 6 to 7 pm, offered by Colin from Kula Yoga in the annex. Look for the class in the open wooded area south of the market.
Clay and Paper Theatre performers have been dropping in to let everyone know about their show, Animal Nature, continuing to August 16. There's something for everyone at Dufferin Grove!
Here's the vendor news:
The Everdale Team news: "We survived the major storm over the weekend with very little damage. It was a wild lightning show! Lots of fresh, nutritious greens coming this week: Arugula, Kale, Chard, Collards, Spinach, Salad Mix, Lettuce (Romaine!). Wonderful bunches of Red Tropea and Gold Coin Onions, Cucumbers, Beans, Basil, Cilantro, Dill, Hakurei Turnip and of course our sweet Rainbow and Orange Carrots. Nobody leaves market without a few Zucchini!! "
Pine River Organic Farm returns this week with cucumbers, peas and beans.
Sosnickis' contribution: "Our first little trickle of Sweet Corn begins tomorrow for Dufferin! The same loved all yellow sweet cobs this year! Lots and lots of Tomatoes! Heirlooms, Sun Sugar and Artisan Cherry types too. And our Roma patch looks great! Will probably start next week with those. Cucumbers! Sweet Onions, Beets, Colourful Carrots, Swiss Chard, Kale, Patty Pan Zucs round out our awesome summer offerings!" Ben, Jess, Sadie & Nate
Beretta Farms will be absent this week, but otherwise, we expect a very full house.
Don't forget to bring your knives along for expert sharpening by Mike Fohr.
The vegetable selection will be superb. You don't have to be an expert cook with produce this fresh and delicious. Just stock up on olive oil and fresh herbs to drizzle and scatter over whatever you feel like steaming or grilling. A loaf of park bread, maybe a bottle of wine....Wonderful meals ahead.
See you at the market!
