Hello Market Friends
Don't forget your sweetie(s) when you come to the market; there will be treats on hand:
Colette Murphy of Urban Harvest/Earthly Paradise will be back with beautiful body care products as well as seeds to get us dreaming of spring. To continue that spring dream, stop for a chat with Ionel(John) about the world of bees.
Out in the garage, Best Baa will have delicious brebettes. Get ones that can ripen until the 14th; they are magical little cheeses.
From Irene:
"Deer Valley Farm will have a special offer this week on burger patties…same quality, but a larger 6 oz. version at a better price! Why not prepare your valentine a special dinner with venison? We have some nicely aged fresh venison available. Hot venison chili to warm you up and take out chili for home will both be available."
Of course, whether you're feeling romantic or not, there is not much better than good food on a cold night, and the farmers and bakers will have plenty. See you at the market!
Anne
P.S. Quite a few people responded to last week's mention of the "too many plastic bags" problem, and we've had some interesting discussions about solutions. For now, we hope we can do better without carrots or sticks at the market (at least not that kind of carrots), so a reminder to everybody to minimize the need for plastic bags by bringing their own carriers. For times you forget, we'll try to keep a few used bags on hand at the market news easel (clean bag donations--modest quantities only--welcome).
