Hello Market Friends:
It's chilly, but we'll be cosy!
Last year's planning, and ongoing work on the part of our farmers and vendors are bringing us pretty impressive winter eating from close to home. Make your list, we've probably got it:
cheeses (see above!), sprouts, breads baked with local flour, meats, snacks and sweets, preserved wild foods, jams and pickles, honey, tofu, locally roasted coffee, eggs and of course, veggies!
Lorenz writes from Greenfields: "I'm just about to head up to the field to dig out some kale from underneath the snow. Root crops this week include our super sweet Carrots (orange and purple), Beets (Red, Chiogga and monster heirloom Lutz), Parsnips, Sunchokes (the blond variety for this week), Daikon, Sunchokes, Spanish Black Radishes, Celeriac, Rutabagas, Garlic, a few giant Kohlrabi and the much loved Watermelon Radishes. Everything grown by us at Greenfields Farm and certified organic - now that's Local!"
Sosnickis' contribution: "Ben will be bringing packs of our own frozen green beans and sweet corn along with the perogies, vegan cabbage rolls & sauerkraut. Both kinds of potatoes, sweet potatoes, beets, cabbages & onions too! Stay warm, eat well!" Jess & Ben
