Hello Market Friends:
Hope you've all recovered from heat stroke. This week, there's a chance you'll need an umbrella, but you'll want to re-stock and re-charge with the great food coming in:
Sosnickis' contribution: "This week: Green Beans in abundance, fresh dug Spuds, lotsa Sweet Onions, Garlic, Rainbow of Beets, Crisp Napa, Happier Broccoli (because it's cooler), huge bunches of Kale, lotsa Basil (make pesto!), Hot Peppers and a trickle of the first Tomatoes....This weather is a pleasure to work in! Ohh, cobs of corn forming nicely! Beginning of August for our corn!! Constant hoeing on the farm- leeks, eggplant, peppers, celeriac, all the romas, cabbage etc, etc. A lot of work is happening around here to ensure a plentiful fall and winter harvest. It's been a challenge, but no whining, just working! ;) Check out our blog at www.sosnickiorganicproduce.blogspot.com to see pics of strawberry planting, garlic harvest & Heirloom Tomatoes!! " Jess & Ben
Niagara Lavender Farm (Debbie Wiecha) will be bringing their first peaches and some raspberries. Quantities limited, don't delay!
I'm already trying to decide on my favourite flavour for the week (think it has to be coffee...); Best Baa's ice cream (and cheese, yogurt & lamb) will be back, and...so will the Akiwenzies! We know you've been missing their outstanding fish, and they've been missing coming. Hoping the tide is turning toward a better fishing season.
Greenfields and Clement's Crepes will be absent.
The Beretta Family Farm Day on Saturday, July 23 was a huge success, a great day for all! If you missed it, the next date is Sunday, August 28! RSVP to thefarm@berettaorganics.com
