Weekly Market Notes for March 1, 2007

Hello Market Friends:

I'd like to begin with something inspiring, but this week our theme is...parking. We've added this information to the website, but I'm including it here as well to be sure we get the word out:

You are very likely to get a ticket if you park illegally on Dufferin Park Ave., the little street leading into the park from Dufferin Street. Please obey the signs. Congestion at busy rink and market times has caused a lot of frustration for residents of the apartment building, and ticket officers have been responding to regular complaints. However, just a short walk away, across from St. Mary's High School on the north side of the park, there are special signs allowing parking on Thursdays for market hours. Please use those spots or other legal ones in the area. Access is from Gladstone or Havelock south from Bloor, east of Dufferin.

A couple of the vendors have let me know that they are watching the weather closely and may have to stay home if freezing rain is on the way.

Irene of Deer Valley called to say that there will be fresh venison if she can make it in, with more available next week.

We're happy to have Maria of Oh Soy back this time.

From Greenfields:

"LOCAL Salad Greens are cut fresh and give you a taste of summer to brighten the day. A good selection of Greens available this week: Black & Green Kale, Red Chard and Collard Greens. Cauliflower, Red Pepper, Leeks and lots more at the Greenfields table so come check us out. Happy to report that the Big Big Benefit in support of Michael Schmidt was a great success. Thanks to all who showed their support. Buttons and Posters still available with proceeds going to the Raw Milk Legal Defence Fund." Mark.

Hoping we can all enjoy our weekly rendezvous,

Anne
